Levo vs CleanMyMac
CleanMyMac is a polished all-in-one Mac cleaner, and a good one for people who want a few buttons. Levo is built for a different case: a Mac with things on it that no fixed list knows about.
The short version
- CleanMyMac has the visuals and a fixed list of what it knows how to clean.
- Levo has the visuals too, and your own agent finds what’s safe, including things Levo has never heard of.
What’s different
- Who decides what’s junk. A fixed-list cleaner knows the tools its makers added. Levo has a list of known tools as a starting point, and your agent judges everything else: the biggest, newest and fastest-growing folders on your disk, by what they are and whether anything is using them. A Unity project, an Android emulator or a one-off script folder is found without an update.
- When it tells you. Levo watches against limits you set. When free space drops below yours, or memory, CPU or GPU runs high, the notification arrives with the answer ready, because your agent already looked.
- Memory, CPU and GPU. Levo shows which processes are using them and your agent says what can be quit. A Gradle daemon idle for three hours is different from Xcode indexing.
- What gets deleted. Levo cleans only what you tick. Each row says what it is and why it’s safe, and a cleanup level sets how much is ticked in one go.
- Your agent can’t act. It runs read-only in a sandbox. Levo does the deleting, and a guard checks every item against the live state of your Mac right before it goes.
- No account, no subscription. A lifetime licence for 2 Macs, after two free cleanups.
Where CleanMyMac is the better fit
- You don’t use an AI agent, and don’t want to.
- You want one app for more than space and speed: malware scanning, app updates and a broader maintenance suite.
- You want something for a Mac that runs older than macOS 26. Levo needs macOS 26 or later.
Levo works without an agent, with the known-tool list, monitoring and notifications, but the agent is what makes it unusual.
Using both
They don’t conflict. Some people keep a general-purpose cleaner for everyday tidying and use Levo for the developer and media files that need judgement. Try Levo’s two free cleanups and see what it finds.
