Levo vs asking your agent to clean up
You can ask Claude Code, Codex or any coding agent to “free up some space”. It will often do a reasonable job. Levo exists because “often” isn’t enough when the next command deletes something.
The short version
Your agent has the smarts, with no visuals and no safety net. Levo gives it both. You see everything and tick what goes, your own agent judges what’s safe, and Levo does the deleting, with its guard checking every item right before it goes.
What your agent alone has to work out each time
- Finding the big things. It runs
duandfindover your home folder each time. That’s slow, and it spends your tokens on a scan. Levo keeps a live index, updated as files change, so the answer is instant. - Knowing it’s too late. An agent only helps when you remember to ask. Levo watches your limits and your agent has looked before the alert reaches you.
- Seeing what it will do. A chat message tells you what it plans to delete. Levo shows rows with sizes and reasons, and you tick them.
- Checking right before acting. An agent’s check is its judgement at one moment. Levo’s guard runs again right before it deletes, so a build that started a minute later keeps its files.
- A bad day. A misread instruction, a poisoned file name or a typo in a command can remove the wrong thing. In Levo, the agent can only read: it has no tool for deleting.
What Levo adds that’s hard to prompt
- Never-touch locations that no instruction overrides: Photos, Mail, Messages, keys and credential files.
- Locks on anything in use, on dirty git worktrees, and on folders a live coding agent session is working in.
- Levels from Careful to Everything, a journal of every action, Move to Trash, and uninstalling with leftovers that you can put back.
You still use your agent
Levo doesn’t replace it. It runs your agent in the background, in a sandbox, through read-only tools, and uses the answer. You can also add Levo’s tools to your agent in Settings › Agent, so you can ask “what’s eating my disk?” in your terminal and get an instant answer from the index. Those tools can read, and still can’t delete. See Connect your AI agent.
When asking your agent is enough
For a one-off, in one project you know well, “delete this project’s build folder” is fine. Levo is for the rest of your Mac, and for the times you aren’t watching.
